Cricket SA - Who would you like to be your new Captain?

You may have noticed the new poll that went up. Opinions may vary on this particular poll and knowing most South Africans its a really sensitive topic. Lets face it, if Smith was an MD of a company and failed at securing a vital contract or mismanaged funds and resources, he would have been sacked. Logic dictates that there were more factors than the captaincy that resulted in yet another failed World Championship attempt. Factors include: Inexperienced players, an Inexperienced coaching staff, Unfamiliarity with Twenty 20 as a whole and no f@#ckn BMT!! So who have we got?: Hashim Amla: Best remembered for his effort against India on February 7, 2010. Amla scored an undefeated 253, his personal best and the highest score by a South African at number 3, as well as the highest by a South African against India, winning the Man of the Match award and helping South Africa to an innings victory. The following Test in Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Amla scored centuries in both innings, including an unbeaten 127 in the final innings as India bowled out South Africa to level the series, remaining the only South African not to be dismissed. He subsequently won the Man of the Match award for the second consecutive match as well as the Man of the Series award for his performances throughout the two-match Test series, in which he scored 494 runs, having only been dismissed once and retaining an average of 494. Although not known for his ODI prowess, he is still a player you would want in your batting order as he can play both anchor and unleash a fury of aggressive shots when needed to. Jacques Kallis: Perhaps SA's most important Cricket campaigner with a portfolio spreading over the last 14 years. A significant all rounder and feared batsman, Kallis has managed to score a test century against most competing nations. Kallis was left out of the 2007 inaugural Twenty 20 tournament as a result of being considered too much of a slow starter. Boy were we wrong! Kallis later managed to execute the most aggressive innings in the shortest forms of the game, often opening the innings with his resident IPL team, the Royal Bangalore Challengers. He has 10 000 runs in both ODIs and tests and has an even healthier strike rate in T20s. Kallis has had the captaincy on one occasion against Australia in 2006. Johan Botha: A really determined individual with both Bat and Ball, johan would make an excellent captain. When Smith got injured in the 2008 tour of Australia, Botha stepped in and led the team. He led the team with valour and enhanced the competitive spirit considerably. This is the kind of determination missing the SA camp at the moment and I would not be surprised if he was named Captain. AB de Villiers: Featuring for the last 6 years, AB blessed various audiences with his aggressive cutting techniques and ability to play spin. He is a remarkable batsman, fielder and plays all formats of the game to the best of his ability. Although his performances in the last year have been rather poor, he is SA's own comeback kid and will more than likely show his batting prowess once again. I for one, am excited as to what Cricket SA does in the next few months. I guess the only way of telling is watching the Windies test series. Put it this way.. if Smith fails against the Windies, consider him as good as gone!
